Abnormal Pap Smears

A result showing abnormal cells can be scary and worrying for any woman. However early treatment of pre-cancerous change will result in the cure and prevention of the development of cancer. Thorough investigation is needed. Colposcopy involves looking at the cervix under magnification with the application of acetic acid (vinegar) and iodine to help bring out changes in the abnormal cells. Biopsy then confirms the degree of change present and allows targeted treatment.
